Nonlinear wave propagation in a vegetated sandbar-lagoon system

Abstract The sandbar-lagoon system presents a rich variety of values. At the same time, degradation ecosystems and coastal erosion caused by human activities climate change are even more severe. A series ecological conservation restoration projects focused on vegetation rehabilitation have been implemented. However, there is insufficient scientific evidence to guide engineering in presence vegetation. In this paper, ten tests were presented experimentally investigate nonlinear wave propagation vegetated system. following conclusions can be obtained. absence vegetation, low-frequency energy proportion gradually increases with rise incident height. Double-peaked multi-peaked spectra notable throughout larger heights. Wave height decay dissipation due effects increase as increases. dependence induced (the square height) linear relationship. Vegetation plays an important complex role both sea-swell infragravity attenuation.
